Because everyone wants to feel connected
At Heritage Genealogy, we understand that individuals become interested in their heritage for a variety of reasons. But one common theme is a desire to find a sense of foundation and belonging. We offer general ancestry research, research related to a specific ancestral query, and genetic genealogy services. We have an outstanding probate researcher with many years of experience in probate research. Probate files often contain a wealth of information; many mysteries have been solved with 19th century probate documents.
Our genealogy research is presented in a professionally written report. The research report begins with the question our client is looking to have answered, the process undertaken to provide answers, the documentation for each step in the discovery, and an analysis of the results.
Anyone can hop on the Internet and with a few clicks create their family tree, however those often end up littered with children born before their mother was born and finding a family with 30 children born across 50 years isn’t even unusual in the current click and add craze on Ancestry. Professional genealogists know that the Internet is full of misinformation, whether new or from generations of repeated information. Professional genealogists have spent years working to substantiate or disprove family lore and while there is often at least a hint of truth in old family tales the actual story as it comes together may be more or less fantastical than the story that’s been passed down. Our goal is to to use the clues found in documented sources and original documents to provide you a more complete and accurate picture of the lives of your ancestors.
Experienced professional genealogists know how to analyze information for accuracy and will note that while certain information appears in an original document it may be suspect for one or more reasons. (Women have tended to lie about their age for as long as we’ve been asked to put it in writing. Children providing information on their parents and grandparents often make age and birth location errors.) While those who do their own research on Ancestry alone tend to focus on census records there are so many many locations documentation is found with a wealth of information. A creative, skilled genealogist uses a variety of sources to piece together your family’s story. These skills come from many years of experience.
We look forward to assisting you in your quest to find your roots!
